You guys!!!! I have been so blessed and busy lately and for that I am thankful. I have been working away like a busy little bee getting out sessions, weddings, events and tonight this amazing surprise proposal from last week.
A little over a week ago I had a random number appear on my phone. If you are anything like me, I did not answer on the initial ring as pretty much 95% of all calls I get anymore are spam/robo calls. 😩 Which is a little annoying to say the least. 🤷♀️ If someone really needs to talk to me, they are usually going to leave a message…. NOTE to anyone out there looking to inquire with me by phone, if I do not answer absolutely leave a message!! I will call you back and be prepared with information to answer your request (if you leave a detailed message 😉). I am all about efficiency whenever possible. Can I get an amen!!
Sorry I got on my robo call soapbox… back to last week. I received a sweet message from Drew that he was planning to propose to his girlfriend and wanted to see if I was available to capture the proposal! Of course I am!!!! Drew and I chatted several times over the next day and we came up with a location, time and plan that would work the best for him to pull off the surprise. It really is important to consult with your photographer regarding timing, especially when you are working with something like a surprise proposal you can’t always move the couple around and the time of day is going to be really important to get those heat of the moment images you are looking for!
Drew is a prepared guy and has had the ring for a while but had planned to propose a little later in the year. But… you see, Savannah just happens to be a nursing student at LMU university and she had just found out that she had received and would be starting a new position for her schooling that was going to make her available time over the coming months a bit unpredictable. She would be starting this position the following Monday, so on Thursday Drew made the call that NOW was the time! He would propose on Friday before her new position started the following week. That is when we connected and began planning the proposal!
I arrived and scoped out the spot I was planning to start with them, you see the plan was we were actually doing family photos for Drew’s grandmother’s birthday… but some of the family was running late. So I started with Drew and Savannah who had arrived first to get my setting ready and find the best spot for when the rest of the family arrived. But that wasn’t really what was happening… after a few photos of the two of them, I asked Savannah to step over to another location and I was going to take a couple images of her. Then when she turned around to join Drew, down on one knee she found him. 😍 Shortly after the actual proposal their families arrived to congratulate and see the newly engaged couple! I hope you enjoy a little peek into their sweet proposal.
